1, the difference between the USB interface

USB-PD fast charging is a charging protocol belonging to the USB Type-C interface, can only be used for USB Type-C interface.

QC protocol can be our common Android micro-B interface, and USB Type-A interface (QC2.0/3.0), can also be USB Type-C interface (QC2.0/3.0/4.0).

2, fast charging communication identification channel is not consistent

USB-PD fast charging, not through the D + / D - to identify the communication protocol, is through the CC pin to identify the communication.

QC fast charging is synchronized D+, D- to identify the communication protocol. This is also to distinguish between the two fast charging, in the USB Type-C interface is a D +, D - pin foot, USB Type-C can do USB-PD fast charging and QC fast charging dual-compatible products. micro-B and USB Type-A can only do QC3.0/QC2.0 protocol.

3, the difference between the charging power of the power supply

QC fast charging is the earliest high-voltage fast charging protocol, charging power 100W.

USB-PD fast charging is currently the most complete fast charging protocol, the current common power is 18w, 30w, 45w, 60/65w, etc., with the release of the USB-PD3.1 standard, the power will be divided into a standard power range (referred to as EPR) two ranges. The standard power range is currently on the market mainstream USB PD3.0 PPS fast charging standard, fast charging power is still 100w unchanged; and the new 28v, 36v, 48v three voltages belongs to the expansion of the power range, the three voltages corresponding to the output current are 5A, the output power can reach 240W.

4, power supply equipment, application equipment differences

QC3.0/QC2.0 application equipment such as: cell phones, charging and other 100W power and the following power with USB port lithium battery charging equipment. USB-PD fast charging has DFP (power supply mode), DRP (power supply/device bi-directional mode), and has the unity of the function of the USB-C interface, high power and othercharacteristics. There is a great range of application equipment, a lot of imagination.

USB-PD protocol and QC protocol is not the same relationship, but contains and is included in the relationship. In the USB-IF released PPS (fast charging specifications), USB-PD3.0 protocol has been Qualcomm's QC3.0 and QC4.0 protocol is included.
